Composer: The competition is open to any songwriter from anywhere in the world whether amateur or professional. There is no age limit. The competition is not open to employees and shareholders of Pacific Songwriting Competition or to members of their families. Contestants may enter as many songs in as many categories as desired.

Composition: Songs must be the original work of the contestant. Songs may be in any language. Each song entry, except those in the instrumental section , must be accompanied by a lyric sheet (English translation is preferred but not compulsory). A song may be entered in more than one category. Each entry incurs an entry fee. The work need not have been composed recently. The work may be published.

The categories of the Pacific Songwriting Competition are:

Lyrics - Rock, Metal, Indie - Pop, Contemporary Ballad - Spiritual, Gospel, Inspirational, Sacred - Country - Instrumental - Folk/Political/World - Open

Each upload entry must include:

MP3 File 6 Mb max and/or Lyrics file ( PDF or DOC ).

Liability:

Although every effort will be made to protect and safeguard application materials the organisers do not accept liability for loss or damage. Entrants should keep copies of their application materials.

Timetable:

Winners will be announced on Pacific Songwriting Competition website and notified by email or phone. Pacific Songwriting Competition is not liable for any loss or compensation incurred by any entrant as a result of the failure of Pacific Songwriting Competition to meet the deadline for announcement and notification of winners.

Website:

Every effort is made to keep the Pacific Songwriting Competition website active and current. Pacific Songwriting Competition is not liable for any loss or compensation incurred by any entrant as a result of the entrants use of the Pacific Songwriting Competition website. Website cash snowball feature will be manually checked for accuracy before prize payout.

Adjudication:

Entries will be judged by recognised musicians appointed by Pacific Songwriting Competition. The decision of the Judges is final. No correspondence will be entered into. The quality of performance, production, promotion,and presentation will not be considered.

Participant:

Pacific Songwriting Competition is not liable for any loss or compensation incurred by any entrant as a result of the failure of entrant reading and understanding the terms and conditions of the Pacific Songwriting Competition. It is the participants responsibility to fully read the terms and conditions of the Pacific Songwriting Competition website before they enter the competition.

Additional Details:

The names of all entrants may be announced. There will not be any reimbursement for any expenses incurred in entering the competition, nor will any competitor be granted any compensation other than the prizes awarded. Prize Snowball is an accumulative prize pool and is limited to $ 200,000.00.

Refunds:

Pacific Songwriting Competitio n reserves the right to issue refunds at their own discretion.

Copyright:

Songs must not infringe the copyright or any other right of a third party. Copyright of song will remain with the composer but by entering the composer grants the right to Pacific Songwriting Competition to:

a. Include the winning song(s) on compilation CD to be used for promotional purposes only.

b. Submitted entries may be used for promotional purposes on the Pacific Songwriting Competition website..

c. To use entrants names, biography, likenesses, and voices for publicity and promotional purposes. No rental, performance, or any other fee will be charged to the organisers in association with the performance of any entry as above.

Songs may have multiple co-writers but only one name should be shown on the entry form.

Songwriter Of The Year Prize Ultimate Prize Package:

1. Songwriter Of The Year Cash Snowball Prize

Manual verification and accuracy checks will be made of the website before money prize will be awarded. If for any reason promoted prize amount varies to manual calculated value, the manually calculated prize value will be awarded.

1. MP3 eCommerce website and hosting package.

Winner will receive the choice of three website designs and choice of domain name if available. Prize includes up to 20 hours configuration time plus a one year hosting package. Website is not transferable to other hosting servers. Yearly hosting fees thereafter $AUD 10 per month.

1. Adult Return Economy Ticket to Sydney, Australia.

Travel must take place between January-April 2010. All transfers and/or connecting flights are the responsibility of the winner. Transfers to and from Sydney Airport will be available upon request. All Australian visa requirements are the responsibility of the winner. Ticket will be purchased for travel between winner's country of residences capital city as stated on entry details and Sydney Australia.

1. Five nights accommodation at Oaks Goldsbough Apartments.

Accommodation includes breakfast. All other meals are the responsibility of the winner. All extras relating to accommodation are the responsibility of the winner. Please note a valid credit card will be required by the winner to check in to the hotel.

1. Four day Studio Recording Package at Kittygroove Production studio.

1. A night out at Astral Restaurant, Star City.

Alcohol will not be included in this prize.

All placed songs are eligible for Songwriter Of The Year Prize Award.

Miscellaneous:

Entries with incomplete application forms may not be accepted. Any entrant that spams Pacific Songwriting Competition or its employees will be disqualified and will forfeit all entry fees. Taxes are winner’s responsibility. Prizes will be paid to the entrant who will be responsible to divide the prize in the case of joint ownership. Competition rules may be updated or revised at the discretion of the Pacific Songwriting Competition. Prizes can and will vary from year to year.

Cancellation:

Pacific Songwriting Competition reserves the right to cancel the competition prior to the closing date for entries. In that event all entry fees will be refunded.
